DR Radiator Filter Package.

Protect your Home Heating System long into the future.

By installing an inline magnetic filter to draw out harmful metal particles and a scale filter to remove limescale from your water feed before it enters your system.

How will a Filters help me to protect my system and save me money in the future.

The DR Radiator Filter Package provides two filters which operate on either side of your Home Heating System.

The Lime Scale filter is fitted to the water feed from the mains which is then used to fill your home heating system. The Magnetic Filter is fitted to the return side of your boiler removing debris that has moved around your system before it can enter your boiler.

What is Limesacle?

Limescale build-up can become a big issue if not sorted. It's not only you’re daily appliances like your kettle or your luxury coffee machine that can get clogged but, without the correct protection your boiler is also likely to be damaged.

This is why it is recommended that you keep on top of removing limescale from your water inlet.

What Is Limescale?

Limescale is most visible as hard white crust that forms inside kettles or on taps in hard water areas. This residue is left behind when hard water is left to stand and evaporate. If you've seen this type of build up then limescale is also floating around inside your Home Heating System.

Soft water contains fewer impurities than hard water because it runs through rock such as granite or slate, while hard water runs through porous rock such as chalk and limestone, picking up minerals that form limescale.

When hard water is heated or left to stand, the dissolved minerals in the water solidify and form limescale. Hard water is filled with minerals including calcium, carbonate, magnesium and manganese. Statistics reveal that 85% of European and similarly 85% of US homes are affected by such issues.

A limescale filter will capture these minerals before they enter your system and prevent limescale build up.

What is magnetite?

Magnetite, commonly referred to as sludge, is the black substance comprising of dissolved and rusted metal from the pipework of your central heating system.

It forms when air and water react with ferrous components – for instance, the water within the system reacts with the steel and other metals inside your radiators.

Because magnetite is heavier than water, it often settles in the radiators and pipework on lower levels, such as ground floors and basements. If left to build up, it can have devastating effects on the boiler and the system.

If sludge is allowed to build up, it can restrict the flow of water through pipework as it begins to block the pipe. This can be particularly expensive to fix if it blocks the pipes on the heat exchanger.

Magnetite in your system escalates problems which can result in radiators, parts or even entire boilers needing to be replaced. A blocked boiler will overheat, causing it to shut down completely.

Symptoms of sludge build up

Knowing the signs of magnetite in your system can help save you costs, downtime and stress.

Common signs of sludge include:

  • Radiators which are hot at the top but cold at the bottom

  • Radiators requiring bleeding more frequently

  • Pipework to the radiators getting hot, but not the radiators themselves

  • Some radiators failing to reach the required temperature, even when the temperature is turned up

  • The flow is boiling hot but the return is lukewarm or cold

  • A noisy system including gurgling.

  • Higher energy bill

How will DR Radiators Filter Package help?

DR Radiators Filter Package will help to:-

Prevents blockages: By removing debris, the filter helps prevent blockages in pipes, radiators, and the boiler itself. Cleaner water circulation helps the heating system operate more efficiently, as there are fewer obstructions (waste materials) that can reduce heat transfer. Filters ensure consistent heat distribution, improve water quality, and minimise the risk of corrosion and damage. Plus, a blockage-free system operates more safely and has a reduced environmental impact too!

Extends system lifespan: Reducing the amount of debris and corrosion can prolong the life of the boiler and other components of the heating system.

Reduces maintenance costs: Fewer blockages and less wear and tear mean lower maintenance and repair costs over time.

Improves heating performance: Cleaner water allows for more efficient heating, leading to better performance of radiators and more consistent heat distribution throughout the property.
